I took the make-up exams last night for the two tests I
failed at the end of the first semester of Penn
Foster College’s
Associate of Science in Marketing program.
The two exams I failed were Business Orientation (don’t ask me how that
happened…I have no clue) and Principles of Management (I ran out of time and
didn’t finish the first time around).
Each of the make-up exams were 10 questions each, consisting
of short essay/short answer type of questions.
I had a half hour to take the Business Orientation exam and an hour to
take the Principles of Management exam.
I finished both exams with five minutes to spare.
I studied a lot more for these exams than I did the first
time around. I searched the study guides
for the main points each lesson was trying to convey. You know, that’s the part that says “at the
end of this course you will be able to…”.
I then highlighted those points in the text books. I would say that with only a couple of
exceptions, I did find the answers I needed for the exam questions very quickly
during these exams. The information was
already highlighted and marked in the book with Post-It notes. The exams are open-book.
I took my time during the exams, and made sure I
double-checked each question before submitting my exams to the proctor. Overall, I think I aced both of these exams,
and would be absolutely shocked it I didn’t score 100 on both. To be fair, I think the make-up exams were a
bit easier than the original tests. That
could be because I studied more, but I think the questions in the Business
Orientation exam were quite easy. I
stapled the answer sheets to each exam this time around. I’m not going to risk lost answer sheets
again. I don’t know if that is what happened
the first time around with the Business Orientation exam…but why take the
chance?
I should have my exam results back in a couple of
weeks. Hopefully, I’ll be cleared to
start Semester Two by the middle of February.
