After changing the date of my semester final exams about
three times to accommodate my schedule and that of my proctor, we finally
settled upon a date for the Big Day: tomorrow.
As I write this, I’m taking a break from studying for my
final exams. I’m really trying not to
cram, because I have been over all of this material before. I have taken online exams during the courses,
and I have an average score of 93. The
only thing that really concerns me at this point is the fact that I haven’t
done some of this course material in nearly two years.
It’s not supposed to be that way, but due to family
obligations which led to taking two extensions this first semester, that’s how
it worked out. It will be interesting to
see how much of this information I have been able to retain over such an
extended period of time.
Of course, the exams are open-book and I’m counting on the
fact that I will be able to quickly reference any material I might have
questions about. I have spent the past
few nights with my post-it notes, marking sections of my textbooks that I think
will likely be covered on the exams.
I have a total of six, one-hour exams to take tomorrow, so
it will be a long day. The proctored
exams will be for Business Orientation, Information Literacy, Introduction to
Business, Mathematics for Business and Finance, Principles of Management, and
Principles of Marketing. The only exams
which really have me concerned are the math exam and Principles of
Management. For some reason, I found the
management course to be difficult, and I scored my lowest grades of the
semester in this course. I have already
taken the final exam for English Composition, which was the final essay I wrote
for that course.
My exams begin at 9 am,
which means I will be done by 3 pm. There are 14 credit hours on the line, and
the final exams count as 30 percent of my grade in each course. Nothing like having that pressure weighing on
me as I take the tests. I don’t know why
Penn Foster makes the proctored finals such a long and arduous process. It would be better to have online finals
which could be split up over a couple of days, in my opinion. Or, the online finals could be taken as soon
as you finish each course.
I’m going to do my best to get a good night’s rest to
prepare for the day ahead of me tomorrow.
Wish me luck!
