My Penn Foster College Experience

This is Terry's account of how he got started at Penn Foster College, as well as his ongoing studies towards his online Marketing degree. Read about the various pitfalls of balancing homework with family, as well as his two jobs, personal life, and volunteer work.

My Exam Date Has Been Set!

After waiting for what seemed like forever, but was just over three weeks, I received a call from my proctor that he had received my semester final exams from Penn Foster College.  I am one step closer to putting the wraps on the semester!  We selected December 1st as my exam date.

From information I have read from other Penn Foster College students, after I complete my exams, it can take a month or so before I will receive the grades for my final exams.  Considering I can’t start the coursework for the next semester until I receive those grades, I’m looking at January 2008 before I can even begin the next semester.

I have decided to stick with Penn Foster College for the next three semesters, but honestly, I am getting a bit anxious to begin working on the next semester and knocking out the next three as quickly as possible.  If I had been able to work on this program continuously over the past two years, I would have had my associate degree by now.

I have heard the saying “good things come to those that wait”, but I really would like to finish this degree program within the next year.  Considering I have three semesters left that may seem unrealistic, but I am still an adult without a degree, and it is a bit frustrating.

I’m not required to have a degree at my current job.  Right now, for me, it’s a matter of pride.  Everyone I work with DOES have a degree.  It’s not just a matter of having a piece of paper.  It’s the knowledge and education I desire.  I’m a reasonably intelligent person, but I know that there is so much more for me to learn, especially in the world of business.

For now, I will have to be satisfied with hitting the books and concentrating on passing my semester finals with flying colors.  I’m still harboring thoughts of transferring to another schools and going straight for the bachelor degree, but I would still have to take many of the same classes or exams that are coming up in my PFC degree program.

December 1st is only two weeks away.  I guess I can wait at least that long before making my next move.
