As I mentioned earlier, I have been waiting for my final exams,
and I was surprised by a letter from Penn
Foster College
seeking another $75 to extend the semester.
It was surprising because I was told I was not eligible for any other
extensions, plus I don’t feel I need any.
I’m ready to take my semester finals now.
I contacted by proctor, who said he had not received my
exams or anything else from Penn
Foster College. Now I was getting concerned. It had been over a month since I had submitted
my final assignment, and a few weeks since I had been notified that my proctor
had been approved.
I called Student Services at Penn Foster
College. I recommend calling, because you will get
much faster service. If you try to email
the school through the student portal it can take a few days until you get a
response, and you may not get an answer to the actual question that you
asked. That happened to me, and I have
used the phone ever since. I am usually
on hold no more than 5 or 10 minutes.
A very friendly Student Services rep answered the phone and
informed me that it takes about three weeks to ship the exams. Three weeks?
I thought the U.S.
postal system had made significant strides over the past century or so, but I guess
I actually have to wait until the end of this week in order to see if my proctor
receives my exams. I left him my number
and he promised to call as soon as he received them. The student services rep also informed me that
no, I did not need another extension to take the final exams, therefore I did
not need to worry about sending another $75.
If my proctor does receive my final exams this week, I hope to
set an exam date of November 17th.
That would give me a week to finish studying and marking important
chapters in my text books. I’m actually
looking forward to the exams, if only to get them over with.
