Almost exactly six weeks after I started it, I have
completed the Principles of Marketing course.
I took the last online exam for the course tonight, scoring a 95. I missed one question which related to what
would happen to profits if the price of every brand of the same type of product
were raised (they would increase, duh! I
don’t know why I missed this). Still, I’m
happy with the grade and I maintain my 93 grade average.
I have now completed 30 different lessons in the first
semester of the Associate of Science in Marketing program at Penn
Foster College. There are three more exams remaining, and
they are all essays I have to write for the English Composition course. The
third and last essay is actually considered to be part of my final exam. I am
confident I can finish all three of these before the end of the month. That means I will be taking my semester finals
sometime in July.
This couldn’t come at a worse time. I have to travel out of town on business for
about a week during that month. The
semester finals are proctored, which means they must be done in the area where
I live and overseen by a pre-approved proctor.
Hopefully, the timing will work out and I’ll be back in town for the
semester finals, but traveling is going to make cramming for these exams very
difficult. I took some of these courses
in 2005, I’m sad to say…so some of the material is a distant memory for
me. Luckily, I have always been good at
cramming a lot of information into my pointy little head in a very short amount
of time. That’s why I think I’ll
actually do well with my upcoming CLEP exams.
All in all, I have enjoyed the Principles of Marketing
course, and it has been useful to me on the job, which is the important thing. I have enjoyed the actual marketing portion
of this program so much that I’m considering doing a certificate program if I
decide against going for a MBA in Marketing.
On to English Composition!
