One of the many cool things about Norwich is at the beginning of every class all students receive a phone call from the professor to discuss the upcoming term, expectations, and any other concerns that may arise. I know this may seem trivial to some, but it’s important to me. For all the good things I’ve said in the past about my experience at Kaplan University, I can say that I was never contacted by the professor prior to a class to make sure my concerns were addressed.
The next class starts September 1 and I am ready to go. I am really enjoying the two-week break, but at the same time, there is something missing from my life and my routine. That is school. Strategic Operations Management will expose me to the challenges of managing the operations of an organization. This is good because this is yet another example of something I do right now in my current job. I have learned a lot through my experience in this industry, but I am a sponge for new information that can help me increase my knowledge in any area.
I am also learning a lot about process improvement. This is a bug that has recently bit me and I am spending a lot of time reading up on it. One of the sites I found is Lean Blog. It also has lots of links to process improvement.
I have also been looking around for schools so that I might get my second Masters degree if I decide to do so. It’s an option I have been pondering for a while now. There are times where I just want all of this to be over with. There are other times where I think it might be cool to get one more degree before shutting everything down and focusing on life and career. We will see what happens.
