I am still standing.
I have this week off from school. It is a much-needed break between classes. I finished up the work in my first class of my MBA program at Norwich yesterday. I have never done so much school work in one week than I did last week.
The group project came together well. All members of my group participated very well. The paper ended up being about 28 pages and over 10,000 words. The individual project/essay that I had to do was well over 2,000 words and about 17 pages. Then I had to take an online exam. By the time I took that, I was lacking the energy to care. But I think I did OK.

Nobody should assume that an online education program worth its weight is easy. This is not. And from what I can tell by reading over the book for my next class, this program is only going to get harder. Next up: Managerial Finance.
This seminar introduces us to the world of financial management. We will start off with understanding financial statements and how to measure a firm's financial performance. An important concept in financial management is the time value of money and how that is related to decisions about risk and rates of return, capital budgeting, and the financing of other long-term capital projects. After mastering these principles we will apply them to problems in calculating after-tax cash flows, project selection decision criteria and the cost of capital. Techniques for determining the impact of leverage on the firm's financing mix and forecasting future financial positions are explored.Math and finance is my weakest subject. I am trying to gear my brain into a mode where I will embrace it and learn something about it. I will need this week off to accomplish that.
So I am going to take a breather, maybe do some writing here on my blog and generally take the week off. I think it’s deserved. I am very satisfied that I put forth my best effort in this first class. I didn’t cheat myself. I feel that I learned something. That’s the most important thing.
