Well, I got confirmation from
Norwich that my transcripts have been received, and I should hear something this week. I am not bursting at the seams waiting for an answer, but I am a little on edge. I think my essay and my recommendation letters were very good, but what I think doesn’t mean much. It’s up to the committee that makes the decisions. Hopefully I will get accepted.
I have only submitted my application to Norwich thus far based on the fact that I really want to get in there. I liked their curriculum more than the other schools I looked at. Some might say that I put all of my eggs in one basket, but I don’t think so. I do have a backup plan.
If for some reason I am not accepted at Norwich, I will then work on my application packages for University of Houston Victoria, Texas A&M Commerce, and University of Dallas. Those were my next choices (in no particular order). Most of all of those schools have rolling enrollment. So I should be able to get in sometime near the beginning of the year.
I know this sounds like the easy way out, but I want to do what I can to avoid taking the GMAT test. I am well-entrenched in my industry, and I am not the 21 year old kid out there looking for a job. I am looking for a challenging degree that will help me get ahead in my industry and provide some opportunity if I ever decide to change employers. I don’t think that taking the GMAT will do that much for me. I don’t need to get my MBA from an Ivy League institution. But if my four initial choices fail (Norwich, U of H, Texas A&M, and U of Dallas), then I guess my fall back plan is to take the GMAT and apply at other schools. But common sense tells me that I probably won't have to do that based on my GPA and other factors.
