I listened to the podcast "When Online Learning is Better than Face-to-Face." I thought that this podcast was very interesting. I really liked the point that students are able to read, contemplate, and then develop a response. This allows for a much higher quality of discussion. I am currently in an online class and I think that we are able to have great discussions adn talk about things that we may not have time for in a face-to-face class. I also think that students are able to incorporate their experiences into the discussions more than a regular class would. I think it helps us to connect to the lesson and each other better. When I hear the different experiences that others have had, I am more aware of different situations that are out there. I feel that this greatly enhances my learning and will help me to be a better teacher. Our online learning class also has a lounge where we can talk about anything. I think it helps us to get to know our classmates and professor much better than if we were in a regular classroom. In many of my face-to-face classes, I really only get to know people better that are in my group or sit near me. An online class allows me to get to know every student that is willing to participate in the discussion.
