Congratulations to Western Governors University!

Western Governors University

Western Governors University (WGU) was awarded the "Outstanding Leadership Award" and the "21st Century Distance Learning Award" for 2008 by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA). The USDLA presented WGU with the awards at their annual conference, which was held in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. John G. Flores, the CEO of USDLA, presented the awards to WGU, saying, "As a premier organization for the entire distance learning profession, we are honoring Western Governors University and Dr. Janet Schnitz as leaders in the industry … Western Governors University has raised the bar of excellence and we are truly honored by WGU's contributions to the distance learning industry." Dr. Schnitz is the executive director of the Teachers College at WGU.

The USDLA received nominations for their awards from October 22, 2007 to January 14, 2008. The USDLA is an organization based in Boston, Massachusetts and was founded in 1987. Its mission includes distance learning advocacy, leadership in the field, and providing information about distance learning.
