eLearners.com Announces Winners of Scholarship

In early August 2007, Woman's World magazine and eLearners.com sponsored a scholarship called "Where Learning Begins", open to those individuals who were non-traditional students studying online.

Applicants were asked to submit an essay about why earning a degree is important. The response was incredible, with over 1,200 applicants writing in to describe why education was important to them.

"The trends in the essays spoke loudly to us at eLearners.com and illustrates the lack of part-time financial aid as a crisis in America that is keeping people from improving their lives," said Andrew Gansler, President of eLearners.com. "This has been an eye-opening experience and we are committed to making a difference. These scholarships are the first step and we will continue to build resources to shed light on and actively address this issue."

Last week, five women from all parts of the country were declared winners, receiving US$1,500.00 each. To read more about the results of the scholarship, please see the official press release.

Congratulations to each and every winner, from eLearners.com!

Greetings and salutations, I am your friendly neighborhood Content Director here at eLearners.com. (I am also mom to a seemingly tireless 4-year-old girl and owner to a cat that hates me. Oh well - can't win 'em all.)

I have a bachelor's degree in computer science from Rutgers College and am thisclose to completing my master's degree in instructional design from Western Illinois University later this year.
