(This is Part 2 of a series, click here to view Part 1).

Get the bang out of your online education by making sure you're learning the skills employers go crazy for. (Psst! If you're missing any items on this checklist you should hop on over to our Distance Learning Resources and Online Education Articles). In no particular order, these skills are:

1. Inquisitive

  1. Can you smell B.S. a mile away?
  2. Are you detail orientated?
  3. Can you evaluate actions and policies?

2. Problem Solving

  1. Can you identify problems?
  2. Are you good at developing and launching solutions?

3. Math

  1. Are you comfortable with numbers?
  2. Can you create graphs and tables with spreadsheet programs? (Microsoft Excel, etc.)

4. Advanced or Special skills

  1. Do you have experience with advanced software? (Such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Access; QuickBooks Pro, SPSS, etc.)
  2. Are you extremely knowledgeable in one of your interests?
  3. Can you speak a foreign language?
  4. Have you won any awards or distinctions?

5. Environmentally Aware

  1. Do you volunteer your time and skills to community organizations?

Greetings and salutations, I am your friendly neighborhood Content Director here at eLearners.com. (I am also mom to a seemingly tireless 4-year-old girl and owner to a cat that hates me. Oh well - can't win 'em all.)

I have a bachelor's degree in computer science from Rutgers College and am thisclose to completing my master's degree in instructional design from Western Illinois University later this year.
