Warren County (NY) sheriff candidate Bud York has a college degree from a
notoriously well-known “degree mill.” Now that in itself is embarrassing, but
can you imagine having to disclose this while running for public office?
Well, that’s what York had to do last week while attempting to unseat Warren
County’s current sheriff Larry Cleveland. York acknowledged that his degree came
from a mail-order institution in Louisiana that was recently closed by federal
prosecutors for having one faculty member for 15,000 students.
The best way to prevent this from happening to you is to do your research on
diploma mills and
fake degrees before pursuing an online degree. A great place
to start is our page about diploma mills at http://www.elearners.com/resources/diploma-mills.asp.
Remember, eLearners.com only lists online degree programs offered by schools who have accreditation that is recognized by the US Department of Education and/or CHEA, so you will never encounter any unaccredited or fake degrees on our site!
