Hey everyone!! I’m sure you all missed my “Top *insert number here* posts of the week” post last week! I was enjoying a tropical paradise!
Well, I’m back and it’s back to the daily grind! It’s also time to play a bit of catch-up!! Onward to the top 10 posts of the week!
1.) The first post that I would like to bring everyone’s attention to is Helen’s post “Woman's World Magazine Features Scholarship Created By eLearners.com To Help Dreams Come True” on The eLearners News Blog. She tells everyone about the eLearners.com “Where Learning Begins” Scholarship. Money always seems to be an issue when thinking about higher education and it’s fantastic that there is another scholarship being offered that online education students can take advantage of!
2.) WheelCipher wrote a very informative post titled “My Undergraduate Course Work” on his blog My Kaplan University Experience. In this post he gives a brief description as well as his thoughts on some of the courses that he had to complete for his undergraduate degree. Now, while this may not be terribly interesting to some people out there, it can be incredibly helpful to a student on the fence about entering the Business/Management program at Kaplan, or even just a Business/Management program in general.
3.) Cajun wrote a great post called “So I’ve Started Business Law: The top 7 ways to completing ridiculous reading assignments in a stupid amount of time” on his blog My Ashford University Experience. In this post he outlines seven tips that can help you quickly and effectively complete large reading assignments. Anyone attending some kind of school will most likely run into at least one class that requires tons of reading. Taking a quick look at this post may end up saving you some time and a headache!
4.) irishmum78 gets spot numbers 4 and 5 with parts 2 and 3 of her “5 Simple Ways to Save $10 a Day” posts on the Affordable Online Education Blog. She gives everyone some really easy and wonderful tips on how to save money every day! I found that tip number six is really easy to follow every now and then; “Pack your lunch. Even brown bagging it a few times a week can really increase your savings.” It will save you at LEAST $4 to $5 a day!
5.) irishmum78’s post “5 Simple Ways to Save $10 a Day (Post 3 of 5)” Affordable Online Education Blog. Outlines another five great ways to help you save money! I’m particularly fond of tip number 14; “Use less gas. Carpool to work or for your children’s activities. Streamline errands and save time and money by getting them done at once.”
6.) I particularly enjoyed Helen’s post “I'm an Old Fart and Proud of It.” on The eLearners News Blog. As I mentioned in my comments in the post, while I’m not really old, I can at least remember a bunch of these points. It’s a great post, and really makes you think about how much things have changed! It just keeps on reaffirming my knowledge that you can never be too old to go back to school! Also, the excuse of “I don’t want to sit in a classroom full of 20-something year olds” is no longer valid. Distance education eliminates that fear! So ha!
7.) tcord1964 wrote a post titled “Bachelor, Master degrees in Penn Foster College's Future” on his blog My Penn Foster College Experience. In it he gives a brief overview about a Penn Foster press release that he came across about the future of the school. It’s a great little bit of information and it also expresses a positive outlook about the direction that the school is going in for the future.
8.) Cajun wrote another great post titled “Getting That Job: The “Education” portion of your resume” on his blog My Ashford University Experience. He basically outlines some more tips for when you’re writing or updating your resume. One thing that is definitely important is to check your spelling and grammar! Tips and reminders are always useful!
9.) WeelCipher’s post “Distance Ed Reducing Dropout Rates” on his blog My Kaplan University Experience gives a great outline of an article that he found about distance education drop out rates. It is a very interesting read and points out some more positive aspects of distance learning and how through distance education more people are offered the opportunity to actually finish their degrees.
10.) Lastly, I would like to point out tcord1964’s post “UPDATE: NCAA denies former Penn Foster Student Academic Eligibility” on his blog My Penn Foster College Experience. This post is an update on his previous post that brought an article to our attention about a student, Jerrell Powe, and his fight against the NCAA for academic eligibility to play for Ole Miss. It really is horrible that they denied him his eligibility, and I’m happy that the NCAA’s decision is being appealed. Hopefully in the end everything will work out for Jerrell. This just proves how important it is to be able to defend your degree! There are still people, places and organizations that don’t understand how much work and effort goes into completing your degree online. Don’t let them disregard all of your hard work!!
Well, I hope that wasn’t toooooo much for everyone to read! Have a fantastic holiday weekend!!!
