Better Business Bureau (BBB) Reliability Report for Almeda University

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a private, non-profit organization developed to monitor and report on the business practices of companies. The BBB reports on a firm's marketplace practices and a BBB report may help you determine whether or not you want to do business with a company. The BBB reports on both members and non-members alike.

According to the BBB of Southwest Idaho & Eastern Oregon:

"According to BBB records, the address listed for Almeda University, 10400 Overland Rd., # 224, Boise, ID is a private mail box company. Almeda University has informed our office that this address in Idaho is a "centralized mail facility" and not part of any Almeda University campus. Mail sent to the Idaho address is forwarded to Almeda agents in various locations. Almeda University states they do not publish the physical location of any of its offices. As an online Virtual Private Network (VPN) they have no facilities to accommodate students or visitors.

Almeda University states they are accredited by the Association for Online Academic Excellence, also known as AOAEX. This association advertises that they are a non-governmental private accreditation association. Almeda University informed the Better Business Bureau that their standards are reviewed each year by AOAEX for an annual fee of $750.00.

Almeda University is not accredited by the U.S Department of Education, Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. According to information on Almeda University's application, they are unable to participate in the federal student aid program or GI Bill. Additionally, Almeda University degrees are not legal for academic or business uses in the following States: Oregon, New Jersey, North Dakota, Washington and Idaho. Residents of these States should consider the Almeda degree as a novelty item only.

Potential students may contact the U.S. Department of Education at http://www.ed.gov to find out more information on accreditation standards."

The Association for Online Academic Excellence is not an accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the two entities that are authorized to recognize accreditation agencies in the United States. Remember that proper, legitimate accreditation matters to you if you want to have access to financial aid or take advantage of tuition reimbursement plans offered by your employer.

Don't waste your money on a diploma mill degree. You cannot earn a bona fide college degree completely based on "life experience". Diploma mills have abused the concept of receiving credit for the learning that has resulted outside of classroom experiences (such as work, military, community service, etc.) A degree purchased from a diploma mill is not worth the paper it is printed on. Rest assured that when you search for online degree programs at eLearners.com, each and every school in our database is fully accredited by accreditation agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or CHEA. The author states "Don't waste your money on a diploma mill degree. You cannot earn a bona fide college degree completely based on "life experience". . . . .But the truth is that while these degrees are not considered "bona fide", the fact remains that they do work and it has been proved over and over again. Almeda doesn't have a 90% satisfaction rate for nothing. see epubliceye.com. Additionally, according to BBB records, Almeda has a stellar record of zero complaints since 2003. As much as you may hate the fact that the Almeda degree is not "Bona Fide" the fact is that people that hold the degree have tremendous success with it.  Do you really think Almeda and Belford and Suffiend and Rochville would have been around for over 10 years without referrals and word of mouth.  Love it or hate it, it works. Check out the URL I listed for some interesting info (AboutLifeExperienceDegrees-dot-com).
