Ok, so there was no drama, there was no trauma, on "picture day" at my office this afternoon. Bill from
St. Petersburg College agreed to drive over from the
SPC campus to my place of business (and to be quite honest, it is quite a drive) in order to take my photo for the article he has written about me and this blog.
Bill came across to me as a very nice and pleasant fellow, and since I assume he himself is a busy man, he respected my schedule as well and didn't waste a lot of my time messing around. He came in with his digital camera and we went to my office where he took about a dozen and a half digital pictures of me seated in front of my PC, with this blog loaded up in my browser and on the screen. As he took each set of pictures from varying angles and using various lighting configurations, Bill showed me each of the shots on his camera. Together we identified a few shots that we both liked, and within about 20 minutes Bill was on his way.
We did have a nice chat about school-related topics like math, statistics, and which areas of study we each found easy or difficult, but overall Bill was there to get his pictures and be on his way. I really appreciated his orderly approach and respect for my time.
Later this afternoon I checked my personal e-mail box and found that Bill had forwarded me a copy of the photo that he and his boss selected for the article. It was one of the handful of photos that I felt pretty good about when I saw it in the camera itself, so I was happy enough to e-mail him back and say "that's fine with me". Like I've said here, and as I told Bill, I'm not really a "picture person" -- I'd much rather take them than be in them.
So, all-in-all, it was a stress-free picture day for me. Thanks very much, Bill.
