My St. Petersburg College Experience

Steve's got it all - great wife, smart kids, successful career - except for one thing: a college degree. Now, at 44, he's going back to school online at St. Petersburg College to finish the associate's degree he abandoned 25 years ago.

The turkey is all gone, but...

So this past we celebrated Thanksgiving. Sometimes I think certain holidays become a thing that you celebrate solely out of tradition or repetition without giving much thought to the intent of the holiday. Yes, we know that Thanksgiving is so very often about families getting together around one big dinner table and enjoying a big meal, maybe some football, and a great deal of family time. Now over the years I've fallen exactly into this "trap" if you will, and I didn't really take the time to site down and assess my situation and decide exactly what it is that I, personally, should be thankful for.

This year, I sat down and thought about thanks.

I'm really thankful for so many things. As a person, I probably don't deserve a life as rich and wonderful as I have -- if one really has to be "deserving" of such a thing.

I'm thankful for my family, for their love and support and mostly just because they "are". I'm thankful for being an American. There are so many places in the world that don't even come close to the United States in the way of opportunity, standard of living, opportunity, and education. It is because of my wonderful life in this country that I have so many choices and opportunities in how I can pursue my college education.

I'm thankful because my brother-in-law continues to show good progress under his current course of treatment.

I'm thankful for eLearners, and the wonderful resources they provide. This community means a great deal to me and my family. The impact eLearners has had on my life will probably never be known by you, my readers, because there's just no adequate way to describe it. Can you say it's silly that I'm so thankful for a Web site? Probably, but what I'm telling you here is how I feel, and I'm completely sincere.

And, above all else, I'm thankful for my life and thankful to my God. It is through Him that all good things have come to me.

Now that you're on your third or fourth day of turkey sandwiches, I hope that you have lots to be thankful for as well.

Congrats Steve on having such an enriched life!

It gives me sometthing to think about. I think in today's society we are so caught

up in getting things done and in a hurry and through all the hustle and bustle we forget to sit down and take a breath and not worry so much about everything that has gone or is

going wrong, but what is and what has gone right so thank-you for this

wonderful reminder and good luck with all of your future endeavors.
