You know that I'm splitting my time up quite a bit, between my career, my online education, my responsibilities at home, and time spent with my family. It can get rough sometimes. It doesn't take much for me to feel like I'm spreading myself too thin. That's why this holiday break between semesters is great for us. This kids are out of school and I'm out of school as well.
Over the past few days I've really spent a lot of time with my wife and kids. We've done a lot of the things that we really enjoy doing together, like baking (the kids wanted to bake cookies and ice the batches all on their own), playing games, enjoying a couple of DVD's, and riding our bikes through our neighborhood in the evenings.
It has been a lot of fun, and I feel like I'm rejuvinated and reconnected with my family. I hate feeling apart from them when I have to sequester myself to study or work on an assignment or take a test. And, surprisingly, it doesn't take much time to get back in touch with them.
Well, this long holiday weekend we've decided to go away. We're just going to jump in the car and get the heck out of town and spend a few nights in the mega traveler destination of family fun that is the central Florida theme park complex. We'll enjoy a couple of nights in a hotel and spend the days kicking around the Orlando/Kissimmee area just having fun whereever the fun takes us.
I love my family and I love spending time with them. If there's one thing I regret it's the time I spend away from them when pursuing my educational goals. Fortunately, they're supporting me in this and I know that some day it will be behind me. Until then, I'm making the most of the time I do have to be with them.
