So I’ve had a couple of inquiries as to if I’m really going to write a book. Well the answer is yes, I really am. My goal is to have a working outline by the end of February and I have a special contact in mind to help me get it to where it needs to be. So far I have what I feel is a very good outline, but I intend on collaborating with another author. By September I am hoping to be almost complete with or finished with a first draft copy, I’ll hopefully have it revised and ready for an editor by December.
So yes, I am writing a book and yes I am serious about it. No I do not have a publisher in mind, I may self publish it on a short run and if it does well maybe I’ll do more. The person I have in mind to help me apparently has contacts in the publishing industry and from what I’ve been told by several professionals, this book is right on time as these types of publications do well in economic recession. Weird right?
I’ve also been asked how I’ve had the time, well truth be told I don’t. I’ll be working on it a minimum of 30 minutes a day to an hour a day. Honestly getting the outline done is 50% of the work right there. After that it’s just a really long research paper, only I will probably not be writing in a 3rd person academic tone, instead I’d like to keep it conversational and somewhat anecdotal. The last thing I want to write is something boring.
On other degree forums out there in cyber space there was a true believer and apologist for distance learning who went by the name “Uncle Janko” whose real identity is John Weaver-Hudson. Mr. Hudson was a preacher at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church and later earned a doctorate degree in Africa via distance learning of course. He gave selflessly of his time and wisdom and for that the world is a worse off place without him. I just wanted to take the time to acknowledge his contribution to the world of education and though he has never been formally recognized for doing so I am sure that his advice and encouragement throughout the years has made a difference in the lives of many. Uncle Janko you will be missed.
