This is my last week in Leading Organizational Change and as such I have the typical “make it or break it” paper due counting for 30% of my overall score for the class. I think I have a pretty good topic prepared but my job has really turned up the heat on us with training, mandatory overtime, staffing shortages and the adaptation of a new operating system by which we perform our work. I go home every day now feeling like I’ve been beat up, I really need a change.
Anyhow, I will devote yet another weekend to finishing up my school work before the deadline but once I’m finished I will begin my final course for the MBA program, the last class, as in my last introduction, my last discussion posts, assignments, readings and of course only one last final project to do. I can’t believe it, it’s almost done!
I have decided that I will not likely be deciding upon “what next” until I have changed professions. I think I am mentally tapped out for now at my current job and I want to see where my MBA will get me before investing in anything else. I’ll just occupy myself with the coursework from LSU, explore new employment possibilities and of course relax for a little bit. For once I am completing a degree without a “plan” for what is going to happen afterwards and I can’t tell if I’m scared or relieved, right now I’m just mostly tired.
For those who must know I am considering the MS in Project Management from Boston University, the Master of Project Management from Penn State University or if I end up working in education (it could happen) an EdD from Harrison Middleton University now that Texas officially recognizes DETC accredited schools. I’ve pretty much ruled out just about everything else I’ve considered unless circumstances dramatically change. Whatever my next degree is it will be my last one, period so I am taking my time and carefully considering my options.
I did notice that my last class is now accessible on Blackboard and I see that there are only 8 of us in this class. I think this is a capstone course or at least designed to be the last course of the program being that it has the highest course number and is the last listed in the Organizational Leadership specialization but I’ll have to verify that by the introductions to see if it’s just my last course or everyone’s. I’m excited, exhausted, enthusiastic and a little worried but ready to get it over with. After this it’s only 6 more weeks.
