My Ashford University Experience

Vanessa is a 24-year-old stay-at-home mom, wife, military spouse, and veteran. She started her online education while she was still in the Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, getting married, and having two beautiful girls in two years, she is still going strong with her education at Ashford University. She is currently doubling up on classes with hopes to attend graduation December 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

What are my plans after the MBA? Not much aside from LSU

So I've fallen way behind on my LSU course work. I get busy on my MBA work and by the time I've done everything necessary for the course I'm too exhausted to even look at another textbook. As a result I've only completed 3 out of the 16 required assignments for LSU.

The good news is that I have a few months to finish the course up yet to go but the bad news is that I'm not complete with my MBA until September. I think I'll be okay because the course work is due in by February 15, 2009. I think I'll start hitting 3 assignments a week in September after completing the MBA course work, by that point I should be done by the end of October, unless of course I hit a snag. Honestly I'm not in a huge hurry at this point but I think I really need to get on with it.

"What next? What will you do after this?"

I hear a question like this about 2 or 3 times a day. Okay I know I've speculated a lot about a ton of different options but the truth of the matter is that for once I just don't know. I haven't really formulated a plan or direction yet. I've got a lot of college debt to pay off, so I will not be doing anything that incurs yet more debt but on the flip side I do not feel like I'm through as a student yet. So, truth be told I don't know. LSU is inexpensive enough that I should be able to complete this certificate program with no worries and that should keep me leisurely occupied for a while but aside from that nothing concrete.

Really a lot of it will depend upon where my next job is and what I end up doing. If I end up in Human Resources, maybe I'll do something in that field, if I end up in a government job, maybe an MPA, if I end up in project management, maybe a degree in project management. So I guess it all depends, I wish I could say for sure. I like having a direction but at this point I've attained everything I've said I would over the last several years.  So I guess for now I'll just hold still until my circumstances change.
