I’m actually enjoying the Leading Organizational Change class which is good, because quite frankly the last class left something to be desired. Although the last class had all the right materials, had the right format, et cetera I think having only 6 people in the class plus a lack of instructor feedback made me feel almost as if we were an after thought. It was wholly disappointing because the leadership focus was the reason I chose this MBA.
This class however has a ton of participation from probably 15 students and the instructor is very involved, very fair and leaves helpful feedback. I won’t mention his name but when all is said and done I’ll post a blog on who he is and why I believe he is an effective instructor, I would recommend his class to anyone considering Ashford University.
The school itself is growing as well, they have changed the look of the Blackboard program to include information about the President of Ashford and then once you log in you see a message from the Provost. I’m hoping that Ashford will use this technology to periodically change the bios and introductions to some of those people who make the school function, like some of the instructors, professors, admissions people, etc., reading that type of stuff is always interesting and helps to give the school something of a more personal feel. Lastly I think the link to the Clarion, which is the school newspaper, is very cool, I’ve never actually read the school paper before and I think without the link I likely never would have. Good call to whoever thought of that one. I especially dig the articles over music since after all I am a bedroom rock star myself, that is whenever I have time to play guitar.
Now if the school could just get some better stuff in the online bookstore, like an official baseball cap, jersey or something, that’d be neat. (I’m a huge baseball fan so I collect that kind of stuff. Anyone else feel me on this?) Currently the bookstore is carrying a nice variety of sweatshirts…in July. So there’s still room for improvement but during my short tenure as a student at Ashford they have been steadily and quickly growing which is a sure sign of a healthy school.
