My Ashford University Experience

Due to the grueling schedule as a full time law enforcement officer, Cajun has been a distance learner for the last 5 years. Currently he is attending Ashford University to earn his online MBA in Organizational Leadership.

Happy Easter Everyone

I just wanted to take an opportunity to say Happy Easter to everyone on the eLearners board and to anyone who reads my blog.  I would encourage everyone here to stop and take a little time out today or whenever you happen to read this to look at your life, all the things that are important to you and thank God for those blessings.  We are all here because in some form or fashion we are seeking a higher education for reasons only known to us.  But I know that in my case it is to reach my fullest potential as both a person and a professional and I assume that with many of you it is the same.  To do a thing such as we do requires a lot of personal sacrifice in lost opportunities to hang out with our loved ones and family or in sleep or in money or at times even in emotional capacity.  Usually the sacrifice is in all of these areas.

Today is Easter and Easter is a Christian celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Today is the day that Christians celebrate his sacrifice but what’s more is the reason and outcome of his sacrifice and the fact that he did what he did out of love.  I don’t need to tell you the whole story, most if not all of you already know it.

But realize that often times in life we must make sacrifices ourselves in order to provide a better future for those who we love.  Often times our families and friends will not fully understand why it is we do what we do when all the while we are doing it as much for them if not more so than for ourselves, because we love them.

Often times I have not been appreciative of the opportunity I have been given to go to school, instead becoming fatigued and resentful of the demands placed upon me.  However I have been given an opportunity to better my life and to better the lives of my family.  Although there is a price and in that price there will be sacrifices to be made.  I should then be grateful that my sacrifices can make a difference to those around me and today I am.

Happy Easter everyone.
