My Ashford University Experience

Vanessa is a 24-year-old stay-at-home mom, wife, military spouse, and veteran. She started her online education while she was still in the Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, getting married, and having two beautiful girls in two years, she is still going strong with her education at Ashford University. She is currently doubling up on classes with hopes to attend graduation December 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

I Have Finally Completed Managerial Accounting

Tonight I turned in my final project for managerial accounting.  In all honesty I am sitting here wondering if I remembered to plug in all of the parenthetical citations that are listed in my references, I hope so because I actually forgot to proof read that particular part as I normally plug them in as I go along.  In fact I just took a second from typing this post to double check what I submitted, it still looks good, whew!

The completion of this class means that I start Managerial Finance next week, which I have been dreading but I am eager to get it over with.  The completion of this class also means that I am 6 weeks, that’s SIX weeks away from the completion of my core requirement and then on to my leadership studies.  The primary reason I chose this MBA was because of the leadership emphasis.  Since leadership is something that I am passionate about and that I am interested in 100% I believe that even though the work will be designed to be rigorous, I’m going to have a good time and probably make straight A’s throughout. How cool is that?  I’m so excited, I feel as if I have run a gauntlet and am almost to the end.  Six more weeks and then on to my electives.

I shot an email to my adviser to see if I can get my capstone course moved up from October to an earlier month because I have a 2 month gap between my last normal class and that one but it doesn’t look good.  Those are probably going to be the slowest 2 months on the face of the planet but hopefully I’ll hit that capstone course at 100% fully charged and run it smooth over.  That’s the plan anyway.

Currently I have a 95% in this class barring any screw ups in this week’s final project, I should still be pulling through with a 4.0 which as any of you keeping up with my blog know is a personal goal I have set for myself.  I’ve never had a 4.0 before, odd that I would choose graduate school to start, but there you have it.  These next 6 weeks will probably prove to be the most critical for me reaching that goal, as the area of Finance is completely new to me.  So I guess there’ll be one last ditch effort at chopping my 4.0 into something less impressive, but I’ll give it everything I’ve got.
