Normally I will finish my written assignment on Saturday night after working on it for a while throughout the week. Well unfortunately, I have been a little more pressed for time than normal and I still need to submit the assignment by Monday. Given that tomorrow is the “big game” (note the term super-duper-bowl is copyrighted) I will have to either do homework during the game and miss out tomorrow or stay up late working tonight. Given this choice I’m going to cut my workout short, stay up late doing accounting stuff, catch a few hours sleep then get ready for the party, like any red blooded American man would do.
Here’s the point though, the work still has to be done regardless of my personal schedule and desire to hang out. This is part of the life of being a student. This is the type of thing we students generally are referring to when talking about sacrifices. While everyone else is at the bar tonight, watching movies, at a restaurant or just relaxing at home, I’ll be in a little room all by myself with a calculator, a legal pad, a computer and an accounting book trying to work through my assignment. It’s the things you do that people don’t see that earn a degree which is why it always makes me smile when people say to me “I don’t know how you find the time” to which my reply is always, “you have to make time”. When I’m yawning in front of the television tomorrow evening drawing curious stares, I’ll just think of getting that degree. I have started to feel that the end is in sight recently which is a huge motivator. This will wrap up week 4 leaving me only 8 more weeks of quantitative methods and then it’s all down hill from there. At least I think so, heck I’ve been wrong before. Business Law and Managerial Economics were both fairly tough, actually Economics was flat out brutal, but let’s not get into that now.
Well, wish me luck…
