It’s been months in the making and cost thousands of dollars to get things up to par, but I finally sold my town house and it funded today. Thank God! I don’t know if you have ever sold a house before, but it can get tricky. A town home can be even trickier because of the amount of power a home owners association can have over things concerning the value and marketability of your home. This has been no picnic and to compound matters, I’m still considered a full time graduate student. Only now I don’t have a home, I’m staying in a temporary yet cramped room, complete with my wife, dog and 2 cats. I have no Internet and yet I still have managed to “just” get my homework done in time, every time, without fail. My new house should be done in mid March and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to it for more reasons than lifestyle, but in how I am able to get into a routine again. I’ve said it before but it is worth saying again, being a successful student is all about a healthy and productive routine. It is about habits and unfortunately habitation can have a large impact upon those habits. I am sure I will adapt and be successful but as of now things are looking pretty rough at least for the next 2 to 3 months. I have my (what I consider to be) my toughest courses over the upcoming 12 weeks of school and I won’t even have the benefit of a decent place to study. Rough stuff…
The good news is that this will likely force me to get creative, in which case I can post my trial and errors here, which should give me plenty to write about. The bad news is that I feel like a lab rat treading water. But hey, at least that town house is a memory. Onward and upward.
