Vanessa is a 24-year-old stay-at-home mom, wife, military spouse, and veteran. She started her online education while she was still in the Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, getting married, and having two beautiful girls in two years, she is still going strong with her education at Ashford University. She is currently doubling up on classes with hopes to attend graduation December 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

Do you have a student in the family? If so here's a handy little list of stocking stuffers sure to please your soon to be graduate.p>
- 1.) A laptop would of course always be a handy little thing to have if they do not already have one. I worked on a desktop PC for years but the freedom that comes with having a laptop cannot be matched.
- 2.) How about a day planner. You know, those nifty little leather bound binders with a calendar, day planner, contacts list and occasionally a simple calculator? These are great at keeping deadlines in check and things organized (for people who use them).
- 3.) How about a gift certificate to their student bookstore? Those are always handy and it doesn't have to be a huge amount, even enough for a t-shirt or bumper sticker would be great.
- 4.) A pen and pencil set. Such as those provided by Cross. Hey big spender, if you really want to make an impression, try a Monte Blanc.
- 5.) Computer accessories like a jump drive/flash drive or a USB powered external hard drive to keep things backed up or even a little blue tooth USB link device for the more technologically advanced.
- 6.) A digital camera. You just never know when this will come in handy.
- 7.) A USB micro recorder, like a micro cassette but one that keeps everything in MP3 format. Great tool for keeping little audio notes on file.
- 8.) An IPod. Nothing soothes the savages of a grueling course like some of your favorite tunes playing softly in the background while you pull an all night study session.
- 9.) How about one of those coffee machines that make one cup at a time. These can be SO handy late at night when you need just a little edge but don't want to waste a whole pot.
- 10.) A handy dandy briefcase or book bag. One that fits this person's taste, so no backpacks for lawyers working on their MBA and no briefcases for the professional skateboarder working on their BS in Physics.
- 11.) Batteries. Who doesn't need some?
- 12.)How about a new computer monitor for your old computer. Nothing will liven up an older but still functional computer like a BIG LCD monitor. It also helps to reduce fatigue on the eyes.
- 13.) How about a massage day at the spa. Being a student is stressful, but a day at the spa can work wonders.
- 14.)Last but not least, how about a card telling them how much you appreciate their efforts and how they are doing so well, etc. You know the mushy stuff.
Hope this helps.
