This week will be a fairly light week for me as far as coursework goes. It's just a couple of discussion questions and an assessment (quiz) before next week which is the final week (thank God) of Quantitative Methods. Next week I will have a final financial economic report to write, a final assessment and a couple of discussion questions to finish everything off with a bang.
On Nov. 13, I will begin Managerial Economics which I am somewhat looking foreword to as something of a change of pace. I'm also looking foreword to it because upon completion I only have 2 more "numbers" intensive courses to go before I start on the leadership stuff. Honestly I chose this MBA specifically because of the leadership concentration so the core requirements really feel a lot like paying your dues before you get to the fun stuff.
That being said, I believe the great thing about this particular MBA is that the core courses are actually useful applied management courses rather than merely theoretical MBA courses, which is great. I am hoping to use this MBA in the future to teach some undergraduate business management courses which given that 6 of the core courses have the word "management" I take this as a healthy indicator that in the future I will meet the required 18 graduate hours of management specific credits required to teach, bonus.
I know I sound like a broken record but I will again reiterate my praises to the faculty and staff of Ashford University. They (the staff) have no idea that I am their student (should they even be aware of my blog) due to my little pen name, but I still get treated almost like I'm the most important person in the school. What, you didn't know that my real name isn't Aldureaux? Anyways, every time I have spoken with anyone from Ashford I come away with the feeling that these people are some of the best people working in the education field period. I don't care whether a school is a "for profit", "non-profit", state school or private, my main consideration is whether or not the school cares as much about the success of their students as the students themselves do and Ashford has continued to hold the highest standards I've seen. They do not compromise on the rigor of their program, but they give their students every available tool and counsel they need to succeed. I continue to be impressed, they are still my #1 pick for an MBA and I'm glad I chose them.
