My Ashford University Experience

Vanessa is a 24-year-old stay-at-home mom, wife, military spouse, and veteran. She started her online education while she was still in the Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, getting married, and having two beautiful girls in two years, she is still going strong with her education at Ashford University. She is currently doubling up on classes with hopes to attend graduation December 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

Wrapping up Week 5

This week was par for the course, two discussion questions and a 3 page paper.  Not bad at all really, but I am planning on getting a head start on next week's discussion questions because of that final paper being due.  The final paper is to be eight pages in length and it is going to be tough doing that paper at an "A" grade level and do 2 discussion questions this next week.  The paper counts as 35% of my grade so I want it to be absolutely perfect, any missteps and it could affect my overall GPA.

Ashford University is still treating me well and I haven't run into anyone who would treat me otherwise.  I've dealt with the financial aid department on several occasions, usually I don't get the same person twice but they have all been equally professional and friendly, which is very nice, Ashford must hire good people in their administrative and support offices.  As for the professors, I have only dealt with two, both have been very involved and seemingly care quite a bit about their students but one graded very tough on the discussion questions and this one seems to treat discussion questions as more of a forum for debate rather than miniature research papers, a definite plus.

I spoke to the academic advisor about doubling up classes and we are trying to work out a plan.  The downside is that I will probably end up taking Quantitative Analysis at the same time as another class like Managerial Economics or Accounting which is a little intimidating, but if I can pull this off 3 times then I graduate 18 weeks earlier sometime in June rather than October.  That's a pretty big motivator in my book.

Until next week.
