My Ashford University Experience

Vanessa is a 24-year-old stay-at-home mom, wife, military spouse, and veteran. She started her online education while she was still in the Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, getting married, and having two beautiful girls in two years, she is still going strong with her education at Ashford University. She is currently doubling up on classes with hopes to attend graduation December 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

Completion of Week 4

I've just completed week 4 in Organizational Management and there was a slight twist to this week.  Rather than assigning two separate written papers, I was assigned a paper that has a part one and part two.  This is a first for me so I used one cover page, two abstracts, two bodies and two sets of references broken into halves.  I hope that works, I am moving and so my APA reference guide is packed and I didn't have a chance to look at it to see how it is supposed to actually be done.

The discussion questions in this class have been more interactive than in my last class.  It's more of an actual discussion whereas, not to knock my other instructor, the last class treated discussion questions as miniature research papers.  This class comes across as more of a natural conversation which I strongly prefer.

I am strongly considering doubling up on 3 of my sessions to complete my degree 18 weeks early and also it helps me to fit my classes into a tuition reimbursement window that will allow the maximum benefit, otherwise I run a surplus this year (that I don't get) and fall short next year.  I imagine this will be a real struggle, especially being that one of the classes is the dreaded leveling course "Introduction to Quantitative Methods".  Gaah!  Shoot me now!  At the same time I think the other class will either be Marketing which can be light or Managerial Economics which can be the world's largest pain in the butt, of course it is all dependent upon the professor (crossing fingers in hopes that I get some good ones).

The student support is still good, no regrets so far.  I'm looking forward to week 5 and 6.  Once I have two posted grades, they allow me to double up.  I know, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment right?

Hehe, good luck with everything!  Well, if you double up then you'll be that much closer to finishing!  It's something to keep you motivated at least.  :-)
