My Ashford University Experience

Vanessa is a 24-year-old stay-at-home mom, wife, military spouse, and veteran. She started her online education while she was still in the Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge, getting married, and having two beautiful girls in two years, she is still going strong with her education at Ashford University. She is currently doubling up on classes with hopes to attend graduation December 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration.

Ashford University Week 4 Complete

Today I turned in my last 2 papers for week 2.  This week was a little heavier than last week but I was more motivated to do the work.  Possibly because of my job interview this last week.  I kind of screwed up by doing my discussion questions early before finishing the reading assignment completely; I forgot to read the instructors lecture and therefore messed up the discussion questions a tiny bit.  Hopefully she'll grade mercifully, time will tell.

My student advisor was on vacation this week but he had a stand in call me to verify everything was going well.  The only question I have now is being able to tell what my next scheduled class is, it looks like Organizational Behavior, but I'll have to double check.  Honestly I did not expect Business Communications to be as challenging as it has been; it's been no walk in the park for sure. This week's work consisted of 2 discussion questions and 2 written papers.  Usually it is 2 or 3 discussion questions and 1 paper.

I have two more weeks and I am so excited to be done with my first class then.  After this one it's just 11 more to go.  I've considered taking 2 classes at a time for my last 2 terms in 2008 finishing 12 weeks early, but I'll decide that later.  Honestly that would be a bear of a chore and the classes are only 6 weeks which isn't too bad.  For now I'll stick with one at a time until the Finance, Accounting and Quantitative Principles classes are history.  I have to admit that those 3 scare the crap out of me.  Working with numbers has never really been my strength.

Overall I have learned some new things this week, as I said earlier the library is awesome and very easy to work with.  Maybe I won't have to keep such a huge personal library in the future.  Also the instructor feedback is useful and steady.  I've received feedback on every assignment and every discussion question, I have to say that this level of attention is unusually good, but on the flip side, I can't expect to slip between the cracks either.  I guarantee if I make a mistake it will be caught.

Week 5 is starting on Tuesday and a final project is due for Week 6.  Man I really need to start working on that thing.
