Well, tomorrow I fly across the United States to interview for an executive position, not only is this the first interview I've had in over 5 years, this is the very first executive position I have ever interviewed for. To make matters more stressful, this will not be a one on one interview, instead I will be interviewing before a board. Nerve racking to say the least but the experience will be good for me. I've given a lot of interviews over the past 5 years and I guess now I'll be sitting on the other side of the desk so to speak.
Now I did do everything I have advised others to do such as getting my resume together and yes I did put my MBA on there with the noted exception that on the last line of the description it states that I will be completing such in the 2nd quarter of 2008 as not to lead anyone astray but yet have the effect of catching attention. I also used the occasion to purchase a couple of new suits. Nothing makes one feel as confident as looking good and if I do say so myself, well, let's leave it at that.
This is a degree's biggest utility aside from learning new skills that is. But getting that degree is what proves to future employers that you have those skills. So if you get right down to the truth of the matter, a degree is largely about securing an interview and the rest is up to you or in this case, me. I have to admit that though I'm nervous but I'm also very confident. I know my strengths, weaknesses and what I have to offer to any organization.
So wish me luck, I'll post an after action report tomorrow night.
