5 Simple Ways to Save $10 a Day (Post 1 of 5)

Save money for your educationBy saving just $10 a day you have $3,650 in a year’s time. That’s a good chunk of change to apply to your back-to-school fund. Below are 5 simple money-saving suggestions to help you accumulate that $10 a day. Check back next week when I post five more!

1. Skip daily delivered newspaper. Instead flip through one of the papers lying around your office’s break room or read the paper online.

2. Swap childcare services with a friend or neighbor. Watch her kids for a few hours in exchange for her watching yours. You both save money and your kids will have fun playing together.

3. Take full advantage of your library. Books are the obvious resource available at your local library but don’t forget they offer internet service and movie rentals as well.

4. Avoid convenience purchases at the gas station. Are you worried that you won’t have the willpower? Always pay at the pump and you can avoid going in entirely.

5. Brew your coffee at home and eliminate that morning latte stop. Better yet, use the free coffee at work.

Saving $10 a day or more is easy when you incorporate little changes. Follow these suggestions and you can have your education paid for with very little effort.

Great post!  You've mentioned some really good ways of saving money!  Being a "poor college student" I should probably heed some of your advice!  :-)

If you can't get to a library, this may save you a little more money:

(i haven't used any of these sites, I just wanted to give examples; please check them out before you use them!)

I've also found that bringing your own lunch to work can be a LOT cheaper than buying it from local eateries.
